COMMON
QUESTIONS

Is filming allowed in Kazakhstan for foreign productions? +

Yes, absolutely. International crews are welcome, but you must follow local regulations on location permits, visas, and equipment customs. As your local fixer in Kazakhstan, we handle all of this on your behalf.

Does Kazakhstan accept the ATA Carnet for film equipment? +

Yes, Kazakhstan is part of the ATA Carnet system. You can temporarily import professional cameras, lenses and lighting equipment duty-free, as long as the paperwork is correctly prepared. We advise on every step.

Should we bring our own drone to Kazakhstan? +

We strongly recommend using our local drone unit. Importing drones requires complex declarations, and obtaining flight permits as a foreigner is very time-consuming. Our in-house operators are already registered and licensed to fly in Kazakhstan.

Do all foreign crew members need a visa? +

It depends on the passport. Many nationalities enjoy a visa-free regime for short stays; others may need an e-visa. We check your entire crew list during pre-production to ensure everyone arrives without issues.

How far in advance should we start pre-production? +

For a standard location shoot we recommend 4–6 weeks lead time for permits and logistics. For large productions involving multiple locations, national parks or government buildings, allow 2–3 months. Contact us early and we'll build the right timeline.

Location Scouting & Fixer Services in Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan is one of the most visually spectacular and undiscovered filming destinations in the world. The country offers an extraordinary range of landscapes within a short drive of Almaty: the red-rock Charyn Canyon, the sand dunes of Altyn-Emel, snow-capped Tian Shan peaks, deep alpine lakes at Kolsai and Kaindy, and endless open steppe.

As a production company with 15 years of experience and three feature films in theatrical release, Remedy is the most qualified local fixer and production service company in Kazakhstan. We don't just find locations — we understand what a director of photography needs, how to light a scene, and how to move a crew efficiently across vast distances.

Our fixer services cover the full production cycle: location scouting with photo/video recce reports, government filming permits, ATA Carnet customs support, local crew and casting, drone units, transportation and accommodation.
